Jury hears details of Jackson's past

The Jury in Michael Jackson's child molestation case today heard testimony of the star's
previous sexual misdemeanors. This is the first such revelation of past allegations against
Jackson after Judge Rodney Melville had ruled earlier this week that other allegations against
Jackson could be introduced as testimony.

Larry Feldman, the lawyer of a 13-year-old who had accused Jackson of fondling him in 1993,
testified that it was he who had directed the family of Jackson's current accuser to a
psychologist, Stan Katz.

After interviewing the family, Katz, consulted Feldman as to what the next step should be.
"I called the, family back into my office for a meeting. The subject matter was what Dr Katz
was told and what Dr Katz told me and possible courses of action." Feldman testified.

He added that he had got in touch with prosecutors in Santa Barbara County, who then
brought charges against Jackson. Feldman denied that money was the sole motivation behind the
lawsuit. "I said no lawsuit. I would not file a lawsuit and there were no plans to file any
lawsuit," he said. Feldman added that he took action as the county of Los Angeles had a sworn
obligation to protect children.

However, Jackson lawyer Thomas Mesereau pointed out that the accuser could file for
damages until he was 20 and his case would be virtually won if Jackson were convicted now.

In the next week, prosecutors are expected to quiz witnesses about five other allegations
made against Jackson.

Jackson lawyers call for mistrial

Singer Michael Jackson denies all the charges against him.
Lawyers representing pop star Michael Jackson have asked the judge in the singer's child
sex abuse case to declare a mistrial.

They say they have evidence that witnesses have discussed their testimony outside the
courtroom, in violation of court rules.

Earlier on Friday, jurors heard for the first time about previous claims of child abuse
against the singer.

The star denies 10 charges, including child abuse and false imprisonment.

The judge said he would consider the defence's call for a mistrial next week.

Legal advice

In court on Friday, Larry Feldman, a lawyer who also represents the star's current accuser,
spoke about a 1993 out-of-court payment made by Mr Jackson to an alleged victim.

Supporters and protesters are a regular presence outside court

Mr Feldman did not say how much the 1993 alleged victim had received in an out-of-court
settlement, but said the matter had been "resolved in his favour".

Turning to the current case, he said the family of current accuser Gavin Arvizo sought
legal advice from him before alerting the authorities to abuse claims.

But the lawyer said he did not intend to file a civil lawsuit against Mr Jackson at that time.

He referred the family to psychologist Stan Katz, and then called prosecutors who later
brought charges against the accused.

No DNA

In another exchange, an investigator defended the use of over 60 people to search of the
singer's Neverland ranch two year's ago.

Sgt Jeff Klapackis of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's office denied claims by the
defence that the search was overdone because Mr Jackson was a celebrity.

He said there was a high concentration of officers because they were only given one day to
cover the whole ranch.

No traces of DNA from the current accuser, Gavin Arvizo, had been found in Michael
Jackson's bed, he added.

Both the accuser and his brother have said that they frequently slept in the bed.
